HeadStart is based in the centre of Phuket Island and gained ‘International School’ status in 2010 and is a fully accredited International School with The Education Development Trust. In our most recent inspection, we were awarded the International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) with accreditors recognising the school to be a ‘Good School with Outstanding Features’.
Our curriculum is based on the national curriculum of England, and we offer Cambridge & Pearson qualifications in secondary school, including IGCSEs, A Levels, and BTECs. The school's main campus at Chaofah has 960 students and is oversubscribed in most year groups. From August 2025, we will expand our Upper School site and provision to make 'HeadStart College' the premier educational institution in the South of Thailand.
In August 2023, we opened a new campus in the north of the island, Cherngtalay. This is a two-form entry Foundation, Primary and Secondary School (KS3 only) for up to 500 students and will be moving to a three-form entry school in August 2025.
Deputy Head of Primary (Pastoral) Cherngtalay Campus –
Due to the expansion to three-form entry at our Cherngtalay campus, we are looking to appoint an experienced and inspirational educational leader to the position of Deputy Head of Primary (Pastoral) to begin in August 2025.
The Deputy Head (Pastoral) has overall responsibility for the development and implementation of all pastoral policies and practice in the Primary phase at HeadStart International School.
They will have the personal qualities for leadership under the direction of the Head of Foundation and Primary, and will lead by example, commanding the respect of pupils, colleagues and parents.
The Deputy Head of Primary (Pastoral) will work in partnership with the Head of Foundation and Primary to lead the pastoral vision for the school.
The Deputy Head (Pastoral) will play a major role in the development of school policies and practices, with particular emphasis on those connected with pastoral care. They will have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and will be an empathetic and sensitive leader, committed to excellence in pastoral care, and with an understanding of the pastoral issues that are commonplace within an international academic setting such as HeadStart International School.
The successful candidate will draw upon their teaching experience to serve as an expert resource, mentor or counsellor for new and developing teachers within the Primary Stage of the school.
We are looking for a highly committed team player with drive, energy and passion, who will inspire a love of learning within their students. A good sense of humour and an excellent work ethic are essential.
Requirements / Application Details –
Essential Requirements:
Good knowledge of the English National curriculum for KS1 & KS2
Ability to motivate and inspire staff and to drive school improvement
A proven track record of whole school improvement
At least 3 years experience in a leadership and management role
Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
A recognised teaching qualification: BEd.; PGCE; or equivalent
Must be a fluent English speaker
Desirable Requirements (not essential):
Previous experience in an International School environment
Experience of teaching to English as an Additional Language learners
Experience of leading safeguarding and child protection matters (additional training will be provided)
