Experience of working in top British schools, particularly in the UK (but of course also internationally) is very important, and UK teaching qualifications are essential. Our teachers need an unquenchable desire to make things better: excellent knowledge, skills and understanding are requirements, but we are always trying to improve, to redefine, to grow. If you simply like the idea of doing what you have always done – or what everyone else always does – but with nicer weather and great beaches nearby, this is the wrong school for you. Yes, the weather and beaches are great; but we are here to do a better job than any of us thought possible!
About Wellington College
Founded by Queen Victoria and opened in 1859, Wellington College was created to honour the memory of the first Duke of Wellington, who not only defeated Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo in 1815 but also went on to serve the country as peacetime Prime Minister. About Wellington College Bangkok
Wellington College Bangkok opened in August 2018 and will grow to accommodate 1,600 girls and boys aged 2-18 years. The school’s environment is world-class: the design and appearance are modern yet combine distinctive features of Wellington College, Berkshire and elements of Thai culture. The buildings are set amidst a large, beautiful, green campus in Krungthep Kreetha, an area midway between Bangkok city and Bangkok International Airport, right next to the expansive greens and fairways of the Unico Grande Golf Course.
In our first year of operation, we filled classes from Pre-Nursery to Year 6. In September 2024, we opened our Sixth Form, having expanded naturally year on year. Student numbers in the four-form-entry Junior School are very buoyant and, on the back of becoming the first school in the world to gain full COBIS Patron’s Accreditation within the first year of operation, and subsequent full membership of FOBISIA and CIS, the College is already recognised as one of the best international schools anywhere. In 2021, the new Skylight Building opened—a spectacular and extraordinary development. In August 2025 we will see the opening of the Crowthorne Building as well - which is where Years 5 and 6 will be located alongside other world-class Senior facilities.
