We are seeking a passionate and skilled Primary Music Teacher to join our creative team. This role is responsible for teaching music fundamentals to Grade 1 and Grade 2 students using play-based and interactive methods, fostering a love for music and rhythm from an early age. In addition, the teacher will introduce and develop ukulele skills for students in Grades 3 to 6, helping them build a strong musical foundation.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in piano, guitar, and recorder, and be able to teach voice. Strong collaboration skills are essential, as this position involves working closely with other music teachers to create a dynamic, unified music program that enriches our students' learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teach Music Fundamentals: Engage Grade 1 and Grade 2 students through playful, interactive lessons that cover the basics of rhythm, melody, and musical expression.
2. Ukulele Instruction: Lead structured yet engaging ukulele lessons for students in Grades 3 to 6, focusing on technique, performance, and ensemble work.
3. Instrumental Instruction: Use your skills in piano, guitar, and recorder to support various aspects of the music curriculum as needed.
4. Voice Training: Provide foundational voice training and vocal development to students, incorporating singing as an integral part of music lessons.
5. Collaborative Planning: Work closely with other music teachers to develop and coordinate curriculum, performances, and special projects, fostering a cohesive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field
2. Proficiency in piano, guitar, recorder, and voice instruction
3. Experience teaching music to young learners, especially Grades 1 to 6
4. Knowledge of interactive, play-based teaching methods for younger children
5. Ability to teach ukulele to intermediate-level students
6. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Preferred Experience:
1. Prior experience in a school music program setting
2. Proven ability to create an engaging, inclusive classroom atmosphere
3. Experience working as part of a team of music educators
