Job overview
The British International School Riyadh (BISR) is an extremely well-regarded not-for-profit, co-educational school in the Middle East, catering for students aged 3-18 across its existing five campuses, providing high quality education to the expatriate community since 1979. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and as a British School Overseas (BSO). BISR is also a member of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME), the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO), the Heads Conference (HMC) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The school follows the English curriculum, greatly enriched by the local and international context. Learning is holistic, supported by a broad co-curricular programme, encompassing extra-curricular activities, student leadership, service learning and residential trips. Strong pastoral care supports student well-being.

We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic Physical Education teacher to join a teaching team who will be committed to continuing the excellent reputation of the school. You will need to be reflective in your practice, highly-motivated and able to work collaboratively to provide outstanding learning experiences for all children. We are specifically looking for a teacher who is willing to contribute to our three strategic pillars of learning, enrichment and well-being.

This position lends itself to applicants who have experience in teaching a wide range of activities across the key stages in both Primary and Secondary sections. We have a strong vertical alignment plan in place to enhance the students’ experience, with a department goal to ensure students find an activity or sport they are passionate about and will flourish in to become a lifelong participant. All teachers support the curriculum swimming programme and therefore having experience or qualification in this area would be an advantage.

With an expanding ECA programme the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the continued development and growth of the department. Our ECA performance sports are Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball and Athletics, so a passion for one or all of these areas would be welcome. However we are always looking to develop and add to our programmes, candidates with a creative skillset are also encouraged to apply. We seek to become a beacon of excellence in our field.

Sports is a fundamental part of the experience at BISR and offers the vast amount of exposure that the students get to compete in organised activities in Riyadh; as such, we regularly attend the BSME games and Mediterranean cup. With recent successful outings the expectations are, our teams are well prepared and competitive in all trips that we undertake. BISR have also competed in the COBIS games and plan to expand our competitive calendar as we continue to develop our sporting teams. Local competitions in Saudi Arabia and Riyadh are also expanding and the school supports and encourages the department to be part of all opportunities that are presented to our students.

Interviews of shortlisted candidates will take place in the week commencing 1st December 2024. If you do not hear back from us by this time frame, your application has not been shortlisted.
