Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Resource Teacher (PRT) for English to join our dynamic teaching team. The PRT English Teacher will be responsible for providing quality English language instruction to students at the primary level. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of English, the ability to engage young learners, and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Lesson Planning:
– Develop and implement age-appropriate English lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and academic standards.
– Deliver engaging and interactive English lessons to students in accordance with school policies and guidelines.
– Tailor teaching methods to meet the varied learning styles and abilities of students, ensuring each student can achieve their maximum potential.
Classroom Management:
– Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
– Foster student discipline and a respect for learning, addressing behavioral issues in a fair and consistent manner.
– Encourage student participation, promote critical thinking, and inspire a love for reading, writing, and communication.
Assessment and Evaluation:
– Assess student progress through regular tests, quizzes, assignments, and informal observations.
– Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work, identifying areas for improvement.
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and report on student performance to parents and the school administration.
Support and Enrichment:
– Offer additional support to students who require remedial assistance or further academic enrichment in English.
– Organize and conduct extracurricular activities, such as English language clubs, reading groups, or storytelling sessions, to promote a passion for the subject.
– Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary learning experiences and projects.
Professional Development:
– Continuously improve teaching practices through ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
– Stay updated on new teaching strategies, educational technologies, and English language trends to enhance classroom instruction.
Communication and Collaboration:
– Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
– Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and school leadership to ensure the success of the educational program.
– Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, and staff development sessions.
Qualifications:
Education:
– Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Bachelor of Education preferred).
– Additional certifications in teaching English as a second language (TESOL, TEFL, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
Experience:
– Previous experience teaching English at the primary or elementary school level is preferred.
– Familiarity with modern teaching techniques and classroom management strategies.
– Experience with differentiated instruction and working with diverse learners is a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
– Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
– Ability to develop creative and effective lesson plans.
– Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
